The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has declared wanted the Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2015, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, over a $48m fraud. Olojeme has been accused of embezzling the said amount during her tenure as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund from 2009 to 2015 . She and some directors in the company allegedly siphoned billions of naira, including funds meant for the payment of allowances of its staff as well as compensation to contributors. “It was discovered that the NSITF accounts in First Bank of Nigeria and other banks have witnessed a total turnover of over N62,358,401,927 between 2012 and 2015 from the Employee Compensation Scheme contributions. That out of the N62bn, the Federal Government contributed N13,600,000,000 while the sum of N48,758,401,927.80 was contributed by the private sector. The coalition of Niger Delta militants on Friday called on the Federal Government to return all oil blocs being controlled by northerners to the people of the region. The agitators explained that their action was based on the ultimatum given by some northern youth groups to the Igbo to vacate the North within three months. Leaders of the eight militants groups said in a statement that the Niger Delta region shall declare its independence on October 1, 2017 and free itself from enslavement by the North. The coalition comprises Niger Delta Watchdogs, Niger Delta Volunteers, Niger Delta Peoples Fighters, Niger Delta Warriors, Bakassi Freedom Fighters, Niger Delta Movement for Justice, Niger Delta Fighters Network and Niger Delta Freedom Mandate. The head of the late Chief A.O. Ezeoke's family, Dr Sylvester Ezeoke, has dragged the Bishop of Awka Diocese in Anambra State, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, to court over his father's will. He alleged that the bishop, as a principal executor of his father's will, was playing a game suggestive that he did not want to divest his father's property to the beneficiaries. Ezeoke explained that also sued at the Anambra State High Court was the counsel for the bishop, Rev. Fr. Chukwujekwu Obiaora. The Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has accused Governor Ayo Fayose of posing threat to his life by giving support to union leaders to destabilize the institution. The university boss claimed that Fayose sent the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Modupe Alade, to the state police headquarters where he union leaders were detained to facilitate their release. The detained union chairmen allegedly released on Fayose's order are Ekundayo Ajibaye of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Mutiu Ademola of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Adebayo Dada of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU). Addressing a press conference in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, Soremekun accused Fayose of exerting pressure on him while serving as the Chief Returning Officer for the Edo State governorship election by sending one of his (Fayose's) aides to him (Soremekun).
